I have a very diverse set of life experiences that have shaped both my world views and my values. Though I have enjoyed being involved in sports, I was always a geeky type with a penchant towards engineering and electronics. I gained my first ‘real’ job as a Television repairman at the age of 16. This was a serious job that required the use of electronic schematics, multi-meters, math, oscilloscopes, and a lot of common sense to trouble shoot problems down to the circuit board level, and included replacing or soldering in new components. This is my world!
After high school, I joined the US Army as the military gave me $25,000 as a college fund. This was the best thing that ever happened to me as I gained discipline, confidence, and a sense of belonging. While in the Army, I was assigned to the 101st Airborne and achieved certification as an Air Assault Combat Operations Specialist.
In 1990, I was deployed to the first Gulf War and Served in combat as an Air Assault Sergeant. I brought all of my troops home safe and sound. In 1992, the Armed Forces were reducing troops and arms, and offered me a $20,000 bonus to exit early. I went to California with my best Army friend to attend school in San Diego, and spent a little over two years there studying the E.E. field. With the discipline I gained and my new work ethic, I achieved high grades and earned a spot on the honor roll.
I Moved back to Wisconsin to marry my High School Sweetheart, and attended MSOE for a year. I attained a certification as a Novell Network Engineer, and got a job offer I couldn’t refuse. Making $80,000 in 1995 was beyond hope, and this started my professional IT career.
Over the next years, I worked for several different firms, and mostly focused on networking and computer operations. Of note is my work for US Bank as a traveling consultant for 4 years, and then a full time solutions architect with them for an additional 10 years. My most recent position resulted in a downsizing (cost) action, so I chose to go back to college to seek a degree in Information Sciences and Technology and expect to graduate in November of 2020.
I enjoy coding and I’m good at it. I’ve spent many hours in front of a monitor figuring out coding solutions, created a full blown CMS system with PHP and MySQL, and even dabbled in OS2 Rex code. I’ve set up many WordPress sites, and have a good understanding of HTML(5), CSS, Java-series languages, PHP, and Python. I’ve also worked with C, C++, and Visual Basic. I think that a position as a Coder would be a great fit for my skill set, and I bring years of business and consulting experience to the position. This will help to ensure quality work and requirements translation for any project I may work on. My salary/hourly requirements are in range.
As you can see, I have a lot to bring to the table, a lot of drive, and a lot of passion for the entire technical arena! Give me a call @414.801.8586 and let’s discuss what opportunities you may have. I look forward to It!
